Maintaining Momentum
It’s about three months since you started Second Step® Early Learning. Whether you’re partway through the program’s lessons or looking to reset and revitalize your implementation, now is a great time to reflect on where you are and where you’re headed with this important work.
Key Moments
After Completing Each Unit
- Celebrate students’ learning by sharing their work. Post it on a bulletin board, in the hallway, or online, where families can see what their children are learning.
Take a Moment to Reflect
- Reflect with your class on how much they’ve learned since starting the program. Give them a preview of what they’ll be learning next.
- Reflect on your own accomplishments since the beginning the program, and all you’ve done to help support your class’s social-emotional learning (SEL). Identify what you want to focus on as you move forward.
Get Set for the Rest of the Program
- Review classroom and school norms with your class.
- Continue connecting with families through Home Links and Family Letters.
- If you have questions about Second Step Early Learning, now is a great time to review our training resources.
- If a colleague is having difficulties with the program, offer to model a lesson or co-teach it with them.
