Second Step® Programs Family Support FAQs

This page is for families and caregivers who’ve been given an Activation Key by their student’s school for reviewing Second Step lesson content.

What is Second Step® Elementary and Second Step® Middle School digital programs family access?

Family access for the Second Step Elementary and Second Step Middle School digital programs gives you access to your child’s school district’s Second Step programs digital license. This access lets you view Grades K–8 lesson presentations and family engagement resources. With this new feature, you can review and engage with Second Step content from home, on your own time.

How do I activate access to the Second Step® Elementary and Second Step® Middle School digital programs’ student curriculum and family engagement resources? Where do I get an Activation Key?

Contact your school or district’s social-emotional learning (SEL) coordinator to request access to the digital programs’ student curriculum and family engagement resources. The coordinator will give you an Activation Key, which will let you access these resources from your account at SecondStep.org.

The next question and answer provide instructions to help you create an account and add an Activation Key to enable access. We also provide instructions on how to add the Activation Key to an existing account, should you already have one.
