Are the materials on SecondStep.org copyrighted?

All Second Step materials are protected under copyright law. You may not use Second Step materials in ways not specified in the License Agreement for the program from which the materials came unless you receive written permission from Committee for Children. To request written permission, please fill out a Copyright Permission Request Form. For other questions, contact us.

What am I allowed to do with the materials on SecondStep.org?

Materials that are clearly intended for download, such as PDF resources, can be used in the following ways, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable License Agreement:

  • Reproduced for internal use only (download, print, make photocopies)
  • Placed on an internal school server solely for internal access and use
  • Distributed to staff, administrators, and students and their families

Materials that are not clearly intended for download are excluded. To request permission to use something that is not clearly intended for download, please fill out a Copyright Permission Request Form. For other questions, contact us.

May I put materials from this website on another website?

You may not place the materials on any other website without written permission from Committee for Children, but you may place the materials on an internal server that is accessed solely by staff within your district. May I link to this website (SecondStep.org)?

You may link to the pages of this site that are not password protected, but linking to the password-protected portion of this website is strictly prohibited, as it contains proprietary information only accessible by Second Step users. Teaching materials on this site may not be reproduced on any site, newsgroup, or mailing list except as provided for in the License Agreement for the program from which the materials came.

How do I request permission to use SecondStep.org materials in ways not mentioned in this FAQ?
